In a significant move to reinforce national cohesion and educational alignment, the UAE Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Education, Human Development, and Community Development Council (EHCD), has officially approved a unified school calendar for all public and private schools across the country, starting from the 2025–2026 academic year.
This landmark decision applies to all seven emirates and all curricula, setting standardised dates for term start and end, holidays, and midterm breaks. The update reflects the UAE’s broader national focus on education quality, student well-being, and community cohesion.
🗓 Key Term Dates – Academic Year 2025–2026
- School Year Begins: 📅 Monday, August 25, 2025

✅ Midterms for Other Curriculums
Private schools not under the MoE curriculum:
-
- May schedule two midterm breaks (October and February),
- Each lasting no more than five days, and
- Must occur within those months to maintain national alignment.
🧭 National Context: The Year of Community
These changes are part of a national push aligning with the theme of the “Year of Community”, declared by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan:
“I am pleased to announce 2025 as the Year of Community in the UAE. Hand in hand we will work to strengthen social bonds, foster shared responsibility, and unlock potential for inclusive and sustainable growth.”
In the Ministry of Education’s announcement, H.E. Sarah Al Amiri said the new calendar “marks a qualitative shift” and aims to support family cohesion, student well‑being, and synchronised scheduling with cultural, tourism, and community activities.
